GENERAL INFORMATIONThis section of the notebook presents information about the Brain Injury Association of New York State. The Association is the only statewide organization that advocates on behalf of individuals with brain injury and their families. We are an active partner with hospital and health care workers in providing you with timely, practical information during this stressful period.
All of the materials referenced in this section are available free of charge and may be requested by telephone, fax, e-mail or the Association website. You may have questions that haven't been addressed anywhere in this notebook, or you may be looking for someone to talk to. That's why we are here. The more you know about the injury your loved one has sustained, the better you will cope with changes and challenges that lie ahead. These facts and statistics provide important clues to what your loved one is experiencing. A review of these materials may help you organize your thoughts and questions as you communicate with health care staff during the hospital stay. The health care staff and social workers may provide you with additional information specific to the injury sustained by your family member or friend. Knowledge is power!
