In collaboration with the New York State Department of Health, BIANYS seeks to raise awareness about traumatic brain injury, and to be a resource to providers and families as they seek to understand the symptoms of and treatment for TBI. Through its Traumatic Brain Injury Training and Military Veterans Services Project, the Brain Injury Association of New York State (BIANYS) provides information and support to military personnel returning to New York State from Iraq and Afghanistan and their families. In addition, BIANYS offers training about TBI to civilian and military service providers. Together with individuals and agencies across New York State who provide health care, rehabilitation, and employment services to veterans, BIANYS is working to build a knowledge base in the community about combat-related traumatic brain injury and its impact on our returning military. If you or your family member served in Operation Enduring Freedom or Operation Iraqi Freedom and sustained a brain injury during deployment, we can answer your questions and get you the help you need.
